momos easy recipe

Making momos at home is not too difficult! Here's a simple recipe for you:

Ingredients:

  • For the dough:
    • 2 cups all-purpose flour
    • Water, as needed
  • For the filling:
    • 1 cup minced vegetables (cabbage, carrots, bell peppers, etc.)
    • 200g minced meat (chicken, pork, or beef) (optional)
    • 2 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1-inch piece of ginger, minced
    • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
    • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
    • Salt and pepper to taste
  • For dipping sauce:
    • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
    • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
    • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
    • Chili flakes or chopped green chilies (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Dough:

    • In a large bowl, mix the all-purpose flour with water gradually until a smooth dough forms. Knead for about 5-7 minutes.
    • Cover the dough and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  2. Prepare the Filling:

    • In another bowl, mix together the minced vegetables, minced meat (if using), garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  3. Assemble the Momos:

    • Divide the dough into small equal-sized balls. Roll each ball into a thin circle (about 3-4 inches in diameter) using a rolling pin.
    • Place a spoonful of the filling in the center of each dough circle.
    • Fold the dough over the filling to create a half-moon shape. Pinch and pleat the edges to seal the momos securely.
  4. Steam the Momos:

    • Arrange the momos on a lightly greased steamer basket or tray, ensuring they are not touching each other.
    • Steam the momos for about 12-15 minutes until the dough is cooked through and the filling is cooked.
  5. Make the Dipping Sauce:

    • While the momos are steaming, mix together soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and chili flakes or chopped green chilies (if using) in a small bowl.
  6. Serve:

    • Once the momos are cooked, serve them hot with the dipping sauce on the side.

Enjoy your homemade momos! Feel free to adjust the filling ingredients according to your preference
