Sahi dahi tadka recipe
"Dahi tadka" is a flavorful Indian yogurt-based dish that involves tempering yogurt with spices. Here's a basic recipe for dahi tadka:
Ingredients:
For the yogurt mixture:
- 2 cups plain yogurt (curd)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon roasted cumin powder
- 1/4 teaspoon red chili powder (adjust to taste)
- 1/4 teaspoon chaat masala (optional)
For the tempering (tadka):
- 1 tablespoon oil or ghee
- 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon fenugreek seeds (methi)
- 2-3 dried red chilies
- A pinch of asafoetida (hing)
- Few curry leaves
- 1 green chili, finely chopped (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnishing
Instructions:
In a mixing bowl, whisk the yogurt until smooth. Add salt, roasted cumin powder, red chili powder, and chaat masala. Mix well and set aside.
Heat oil or ghee in a small pan or tadka pan over medium heat. Add mustard seeds and let them splutter.
Add cumin seeds, fenugreek seeds, dried red chilies, asafoetida, and curry leaves to the pan. Saute for a few seconds until fragrant.
Add chopped green chili (if using) and turmeric powder to the pan. Stir well.
Immediately pour this tempering over the prepared yogurt mixture. Be careful as the tempering should not be too hot when poured over the yogurt.
Mix the tempering into the yogurt mixture thoroughly.
Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
Serve dahi tadka chilled as a side dish with rice or any Indian bread like roti or paratha.
Feel free to adjust the spices and seasoning according to your taste preferences. Enjoy your dahi tadka
